AMITYVILLE, N.Y., Feb. 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- NAPCO Security Technologies, Inc. (NSSC), one of the world's leading suppliers of high-performance electronic security equipment for over 30 years, shared more on the Company's wireless and standalone access control locks being successfully used in a growing list of schools, colleges and universities across the nation, in a market reported to potentially reach $4.9 Billion by 2017, spurred on tragically by recent shootings and random acts of violence.
Richard Soloway, CEO, announced, "Sales to the education vertical market have strongly accelerated in growth, during the last year. Our cross-divisional, education vertical focused, Project Loc-Down® has been successful in providing valuable, consultative security applications knowledge and expertise, to colleges, universities and K-12 institutions across the U.S. We have armed our sales channels with the S.A.V.I. (School Access-control Vulnerability Index) Audit and Certification Process, which enables our dealers, integrators and distributors to objectively measure the holistic security level of any given educational facility and make any needed recommendations in improving their ability to protect against a security breach."
NAPCO's Marks-USA division, has been a longstanding source for educational security solutions and, for example, has been used extensively throughout the Los Angeles Unified School District's classrooms, the 2nd largest public school district in the United States. Given Marks' ability to customize locks, for any form factor and aesthetic, the Marks' engineering team quickly redeveloped their classroom intruder locks, lockable safely from inside, to meet LA USD's new specification and bid standard, with a unique inside-door, double-cylinder locking mechanism and indicator. Use of the new Marks' designs is slated to increase widely to meet demand created by the new, more stringent "Security Lock" standards in a newly-passed California Bill governing the implementation of Security Locks, on all the school district's rooms and classrooms with occupancy over five persons.
Sister division, Alarm Lock Systems, too, continues to make strong inroads in the educational marketplace with its electronic access control locking solutions for classrooms and school premises. In addition to providing lock-down solutions safely from inside the classroom, via pushbutton or portable keyfob, Trilogy Networx® locks offer durable, access control convenience to educators and administrators using either a PIN code and/or an ID Card. The latter, is the preferred method of Heritage University, where they are being increasingly used on a variety of buildings throughout their Washington-based three college campuses, both in classrooms and perimeter doors. Their Director of Physical Plant, Construction Coordinator, confirmed he is likewise using them in new construction, including three new Heritage Buildings, because "they performed well, as expected", said Rob Carroll, who also commented on the Company providing "high levels of service and support". Alarm Lock's keyless locks' digital and ID Card access control function, has made them exceedingly popular for many years, in an accelerating list of schools and campuses, because in addition to providing security, they eliminate key distribution issues, key costs, and rekeying expenses (for example, retrieving mechanical keys from former staffers, and/or keys falling into the wrong or nefarious hands).
Recently, the Company integrated Alarm Lock Networx Locks on the Continental Access Division's Enterprise Access Control and Security Management Platform, easily deployed along with video, access and alarms in one, easy to use, IT- and budget-friendly environment. California's well-respected Pepperdine University uses a Continental enterprise integrated system recently incorporating more than a thousand Networx Locks and is expected to install more in the near future. Continental also has been a long-lived, well-respected source for schools across the nation and worldwide, and its software platform is well liked for its excellent threat-level- and visitor-management utilities. Continental Access, for example, helps secure the Houston & Austin Independent School Districts, ranked numbers 8 and 35 among all US School Districts, by enrollment and have grown with both for well over two decades now.
Mr. Soloway concluded, "In a world, where security for education is top of mind, we recognize that all schools and associated stakeholders are looking for the best security, access control & locking solutions. We are proud to be a leader in this category and that all our divisions, and synergistic security technologies can come together in a simple, scalable and often interoperable solution. It's extremely gratifying to see the lengthy, mounting list of educational institutions secured by NAPCO products, and to support the ongoing challenge of protecting our students, educators and administrators in the educational environment – an environment which once again can be perceived as a safe and nurturing one. NAPCO is very proud to have been chosen to provide school & campus security technology solutions to public and private schools of all sizes in the US and abroad." Just some of the larger US school districts include: Los Angeles USD, Houston ISD, Memphis City Schools, DeKalb County Schools & Austin ISD, while higher-educational institutions include: Arizona State University (AZ), Bakersfield College (CA), Bethel College (MN), Chico University (CA), College of New Rochelle (NY), Columbia University (NY), Cooper Union College (NY), Eastern Connecticut State U. (CT), Granite State College (NH), HUP University (PA), New York University, Northwestern College (MN), Olympia University (WA), Oshkosh University (WI), San Diego State University (CA), San Marcos University (CA), St. John's University (NY), Stanford University (CA), Stony Brook University (NY), University of California at Berkeley (CA), University of Pennsylvania Medical Center.
