AMITYVILLE, N.Y., June 21, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- NAPCO Security Technologies, Inc. (NSSC - Nasdaq), one of the world's leading solutions providers and manufacturers of high tech electronic intrusion security, IoT connected home, video and fire systems, as well as enterprise-class access control and door locking products, today addresses the sunset of the 2G wireless network which will be taking place an the end of 2016.
The phase out of the 2G network has begun and is planned to be completed by the end of 2016. There are currently hundreds of thousands of devices, which include fire alarms and burglar alarms, that communicate using this network and these devices will lose network connectivity when the 2G network goes dark.
NAPCO's StarLink radios are a solution that can be used by dealers and integrators to convert users to the AT&T 3G/4G or the Verizon CDMA network and ensure connectivity. The StarLink radio offers the following features which make the conversion easy, affordable and attractive: Universal (works on ALL panels and applications), reports to any central alarm station, offers nationwide coverage and is powered by the panel, making it very easy to install (no separate power supply is required).
Richard Soloway CEO and President of NAPCO commented, "We are half way through the year and while facing the impending shutdown there are still many homes and businesses that have yet to convert off the 2G network. Additionally, there are many who are unaware that the phase out is taking place. Most security dealers and integrators are notifying their customers, however due to the large volume that these dealers handle, some may not find out until the network goes dark. The catastrophic results could be an alarm being triggered due to a fire or burglary and no signal being sent and thus no response from the fire or police department. This creates a public safety issue which desperately needs to be addressed."
NAPCO continues to invest in research and development every year in order to bring products to market that address the important needs of the security market. The StarLink radio is an example of the many products NAPCO has to offer security dealers and integrators to help them protect customer homes and businesses.
