Byron Thurmond joins NAPCO from the Houston Independent School District ("HISD") where he has spent the past 30 years. During those years he held multiple roles, most recently as the Senior Manager of Security Services and Telecommunications. He oversaw multi million dollar budgets and installed nine hundred security systems, thirteen thousand cameras in over two hundred eighty schools, three hundred forty access control panels and two thousand card readers. He holds licenses from the Texas Dept. of Safety for Locksmith, Burglar Alarms, Access Control and Security Cameras.

The Houston Independent School District is the 7^th largest district in the United States. They are members of the Council of Great City Schools ("CGCS"), which consists of the 28 largest public school districts in the country. Byron and HISD represented best practices security methods and installations, as part of the CGCS and has helped many other member schools improve their security preparedness. Houston issued a total of $80 million in bonds, which Byron directed towards HISD's security efforts.
